VHS opens season with 3-2 win over Sullivan East

3/29/07 Virginia High opened up the 2007 season with a 3-2 win over non-district foe Sullivan East. Justin Grimm earned the win with five innings of work while giving up one hit and chalking up seven strikeouts. Both Sullivan East runs were unearned as the Bearcats struggled defensively with three errors in the two run second inning. VHS committed a total of five errors for the game. Trey Roark battled at the plate with two hits and scoring once. Willie Oakes also added a pair of hits. Preston Smith closed out the final two innings on the mound to earn the save. Smith gave up one hit and had three strikeouts. The Bearcats will travel to Daniel Boone for another non-district game across the Tennessee border on Friday.
