Daniel Boone cruised by the Bearcats 9-3 while Virginia High is still
trying to get their young season going. VHS got on the board with a run
in the second inning after Preston Smith doubled and scored on an RBI
single by Robbie Stout. Things turned sour for the Bearcats in the
fourth when a five hit barrage, including a three run homerun off
starter Smith put VHS in the hole with the score 6-1. Virginia High
managed another run in the fifth off Brandon Arnold's double and Willie
Oakes' RBI base hit, but Daniel Boone struck back with a run in the
fifth and two more in the sixth off reliever Trey Roark. VHS scored a
final run and left the bases loaded in the seventh with a small threat.
Virginia High will try to recover with a Saturday afternoon game against
Johnson County in the Bearcats home opener.
