Virginia High got payback against Tennessee High with a hard fought 5-4
win over the cross-town rivals. Hunter McCall notched his first varsity
win as the freshman hurler went the distance on the mound. McCall gave
up three runs in the first
inning and
settled in scattering five hits in the next six innings of work only
giving up one additional run. McCall got a much needed bases loaded
strikeout in the third and the Bearcat defense managed a double play to
end a bases loaded threat in the fourth. Dylan Sullins came up big at
the plate with a two RBI double in the fifth to put the Bearcats on top.
Sullins had two hits for the night. Casey Stallard added an RBI
double in the first and finished up two for two, scoring two runs on the
bases. Tyler Arnold also had two hits. Virginia High will play Lebanon
at Devault Stadium on Friday night in an Clinch Mountain District
matchup.
