Bearcats get payback with 5-4 win over Tennessee

McCall notches first varsity win

4/24/08 Virginia High got payback against Tennessee High with a hard fought 5-4 win over the cross-town rivals. Hunter McCall notched his first varsity win as the freshman hurler went the distance on the mound. McCall gave up three runs in the first inning and settled in scattering five hits in the next six innings of work only giving up one additional run. McCall got a much needed bases loaded strikeout in the third and the Bearcat defense managed a double play to end a bases loaded threat in the fourth. Dylan Sullins came up big at the plate with a two RBI double in the fifth to put the Bearcats on top. Sullins had two hits for the night.  Casey Stallard added an RBI double in the first and finished up two for two, scoring two runs on the bases. Tyler Arnold also had two hits. Virginia High will play Lebanon at Devault Stadium on Friday night in an Clinch Mountain District matchup.
