Sullivan East completed a sweep of the Bearcats with a convincing 7-2
win at Devault Stadium. Virginia High dropped their win-loss record to
5-8 with the loss. The Patriots defeated the Bearcats 3-2 earlier in the
week. VHS stranded runners in scoring position in four innings and left
the bases loaded in the first inning. Bearcat hitters could not manage
the hits when needed. Kalan Mabe took the loss on the mound but
contributed a pair of hits at the plate including a triple in the
seventh. Brandon Arnold also added a pair of base hits. The two Bearcat
leadoff hitters combined for four of the Bearcats six hit total. VHS
will try and recover with an important Clinch Mountain District game
against rival John Battle on Tuesday.
