Bearcats stay alive with 6-0 win over Gate City

5/2/08 Kalan Mabe stepped on the mound in the third inning and took command in a
6-0 district win over Gate City while Brent Davenport banged out a double and a single for three RBI's. The Bearcat starter Dylyn Sullins faced control problems and coach Mark Daniels wasted no time bringing Mabe in for relief. Mabe mastered teh Blue Devils, only giving up an intentional walk in the third then retiring the next ten
batters. Gate City managed a runner due to an error and gave up his only hit in the top of the seventh. Mabe finished up with six strikeouts. Davenport smacked a base hit in the third to give the Bearcats the lead and belted a two RBI double in the fifth. Mabe also added a pair of hits and scored twice. Clinch Chafin came off the bench and banged a triple in the sixth and scored on a grounder to short. Casey Stallard had a hit and two RBI's and Brandon Arnold reached base all four times at the plate and also scored a pair of runs. Lee will visit the Bearcats on Tuesday night.
