Virginia High closes regular season with 6-2 loss to John Battle

5/16/08 Virginia High closed out the regular season with a 6-2 loss to John Battle. With a possible Clinch Mountain District co-championship on the line the Bearcats could not deliver. Pitcher Robbie Stout got off to a rough start giving up two runs in the first inning but settled in over the next four to keep the Bearcats close. But three errors in the final two innings helped the Trojans extend their lead. VHS left runners in scoring position in the first two innings and were finally able to score a pair of runs in the final inning. Josh Murray managed a double and a single and Kalan Mabe added a pair of hits. Virginia High finished the regular season in second place to John Battle and will attempt to begin again in the upcoming Clinch Mountain District tournament next week.
