Sullivan East defeated the Virginia High Bearcats with a score of 3-2 in
a non-district contest. VHS struggled at the plate and only managed
three scattered hits. East took a 2-0 lead with a run in the second
inning and another run in the fourth. Virginia High's Tyler Arnold
scored in the top of the fifth after a lead-off base hit, a stolen base
and crossed the plate after a pair of grounders. Pitcher Robbie Stout
gave up a third run in the bottom half of the inning. VHS then scored
again in the sixth to courtesy of a hit batter, an error and a double
steal. Arnold belted a triple to lead off the seventh to give the
Bearcats hope to knot the score but then was caught between third and
home on a sharp grounder back to the mound,. Arnold finished with two of
the Bearcats' three hits. VHS will face Sullivan Central at Devault
Stadium on Wednesday to begin a four game home stretch for the remainder
of the week.
