Virginia High banged out twelve hits as they cruised by Clinch Mountain
District rival John Battle by a score of 10-4. VHS scored two in the
first inning but the Trojans answered back with a pair of runs in the
top of the second. John Battle added two more runs in the third for a
brief lead. The Bearcats scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of
the third to take the lead for good after the first two batters of the
inning popped out to left field. Clint Chafin came off the bench and
knocked a double, single and a sacrifice fly. Dylan Sullins and Dale
Stine each had two hits. Jarred Tate and Brandon Nave had two RBI
doubles and Cody Read had an RBI triple. Sullins earned the win coming
in as relief in the second and Hunter McCall closed out the final two
innings for the save..
