Tyler Arnett struck out seven Lee batters in six innings of work on the
mound as the Bearcats take a 14-3 Clinch Mountain District win over Lee.
Arnett gave up four hits while earning a win and improving his record to
three wins, two losses and one save. Cody Read banged out two doubles
with one RBI and finished up two for two at the plate while Dale Stine
also went two for two with a double, a single and two RBI's. Dylan
Sullins added a double. Virginia High missed a chance at ending the game
in five innings with a pair of errors. The Bearcats will travel to
non-district foe Powell Valley on Wednesday and then face a showdown
with Gate City on Friday at Devault Stadium to close out the regular
season. VHS can claim the regular season title and an automatic regional
playoff spot with a win over Gate City.
