Bearcats claim Clinch Mountain District title with 6-3 win over Gate City

5/24/10 Virginia High claimed the regular season Clinch Mountain District title with a 6-3 win over Gate City in a special playoff game. The Bearcats and Blue Devils split in their previous match-ups and were forced into a playoff for the championship. Jarred Tate kept Gate City off balance all night chalking up thirteen strikeouts and only giving up three hits in his complete game performance on the mound. Tate also made his presence known at the plate with a double and a single. Dakota Katelouzos and Seth Davis also had two hits each with Katelouzos contributing two RBI's and Davis adding one RBI in the second inning. Brandon Nave banged out a triple in the second and scored the Bearcats first of four runs for the inning. Virginia High earns the right to host the Clinch Mountain District tournament along with receiving an automatic bid into the Region D tournament.
