VHS crushes unbeaten Honaker
14-3

6/3/10 Seth Davis helped lead the Bearcats to a convincing 14-3 win over previously undefeated Honaker in the semi-finals of the Region D tournament. Davis belted a three run homerun in the first inning and added three more base hits to finish up the late game with a four for five performance at the plate with seven RBI's. Anthony McCoy helped out with his own four for five evening including two doubles and two RBI's. Also making himself known was Dylan Sullins with three base hits and three RBI's. Sullins started on the mound for Virginia High and only gave up three hits in four innings of work. After a lightning delay, Sullins returned to the mound in the fourth with a lack of control issuing two bases on balls and two hit batters compounded by an error in the field to allow Honaker to score their three runs of the game. Hunter McCall relieved in the fifth and finished up the game only allowing one hit in the seventh. Virginia High advances to the Region D finals against Gate City, their fifth meeting of the year, on Friday night at Coeburn. The Bearcats also earned a spot in the state quarter-finals with the win.
