Virginia High exploded with twenty-four runs and eighteen hits to take
the Region D championship. The Bearcats took the trophy with a 24-10 win
over Gate City in their fifth meeting of the year. Cody Read belted out
four doubles to finish up four for five with three RBI's and Dakota
Katelouzos had five base hits including one double and two RBI's.
Anthony McCoy knocked a three run homerun and had a total of three hits
and four RBI's while Clint Chafin added a three run homerun of his own.
Josh Paolucci got the win on the mound with five innings pitched and
Hunter McCall and Tyler Arnett pitched the final two innings. Virginia
High advances to the state quarter-finals and earned the right to host
Ft Chiswell on Tuesday night.
